What is (Gloss) Thermoplastic?

The term polyethylene (Thermoplastic) describes a huge family of resins obtained by polymerizing ethylene gas, H2C=CH2, and it is by far the largest volume commercial polymer. This thermoplastic is available in a range of flexibilities and other properties depending on the production process, with high density materials being the most rigid. Polyethylene can be formed by a wide variety of thermoplastic processing methods and is particularly useful where moisture resistance and low cost are required. Low density polyethylene typically has a density value ranging from 0.91 to 0.925 g/cm³, linear low density polyethylene is in the range of 0.918 to 0.94 g/cm³, while high density polyethylene ranges from 0.935 to 0.96 g/cm³ and above. The thermoplastic (polyethylene) used to coat outdoor furniture is a high density polyethylene.

Thermoplastic is an environmentally safe co-polymer coating. No harmful chemicals are released during the manufacturing or the use of the product. That means: no VOCs, no TGIC, no plasticizers, no isocyanates, no halogens and no heavy metals. Nothing pollutes the air or is leeched into the ground during the manufacturing process.

Thermoplastic has exceptional adhesion to the steel substrate and additionally the coating is impermeable. This provides superior performance pertaining to UV sun exposure, salt-spray, pollution corrosion, and wind & sand abrasion.
Thermoplastic is applied at a thickness of 25-30 mils. This provides maximum protection with the best possible surface. Surface appearance will be shiny and smooth with no drip residue. Thermoplastic can be easily repaired. Cuts can be repaired by heating the affected area with an industrial heat gun. The thermoplastic will melt and rebind itself. The properties of thermoplastic also make spray painting difficult for vandals. Simply wash the product with a standard industrial cleaner or WD-40™.

The gloss thermoplastic is virtually the same as the matte thermoplastic.  The main difference between the two is the finish of either matte or gloss.
